Coalition for the Life Sciences

Membership

Become a member organization

The Coalition for the Life Sciences is an alliance of professional organizations advocating for science — protecting the system that supports research across all of the life sciences and defending the freedom of inquiry fundamental to the scientific endeavor.

Membership benefits

For annual support of $15,000, member organizations receive:

  • Two voting board representatives

Plus a non-voting member and a staff representative, so your organization is fully at the table when CLS sets its positions.

  • Weekly government affairs meeting

A standing weekly meeting of government and public affairs professionals to share intelligence and coordinate.

  • Hill Days and the Life Science Fair

Participation in twice-annual Hill Days, open to all board members, and the Spring Life Science Fair engaging Hill staff.

  • Access to the CLS Director

A 25-year health and science policy veteran with experience at the highest levels of Congress, the NIH, the White House, and industry.

What we do

  • Shared platforms and tools that advance member policy goals, including our Storybank and the library of basic-science breakthroughs behind FDA-approved drugs and devices.
  • Convening power that brings diverse stakeholders together under Chatham House rules for candid, cross-field discussion.
  • Informing policymakers on research funding, scientific advances, and science education.
  • Recommending policies that keep the U.S. a leading contributor to global research — CLS drafted and promoted the multi-year limitation provision in the FY26 NIH bill.
